Membership fees for the Zoological Society of San Diego will increase next year, officials said Monday.

The new rates take effect Feb. 25. Single ticket prices bought at the gate for both the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park will not increase.

The Zoological Society is raising the price of membership to adjust for inflation, said Douglas G. Myers, executive director of the society, but he added that the new dues will give members six additional discount tickets to bring guests to the zoo and animal park.

Cost of a single membership will increase from $42 to $45 annually. Dual memberships, for two people in one household, will rise from $49 to $58.

The 175,000 current Zoological Society members will be able to renew their memberships at rates lower than new members. A single membership renewal will go up $2, to $37, and a dual membership renewal will be $48 instead of $42.

Rates for annual passes are also scheduled to increase Feb. 25. New dues for the Koala Club, for children ages 15 and under, will be $10 annually, a $1 increase.

The Senior Pass, available to people 60 and older, will increase from $11 to $15, and from $20 to $29 for a dual pass. The current 25,000 Senior Pass holders may renew at $13 for singles and $25 for dual passes.

The Student Pass, for students 16 and older, will increase $3, to $20. The Resident’s Pass, which allows residents of the city of San Diego unlimited admission to the zoo only, will remain at $23.50.

Single-ticket prices for the zoo will remain at $10.50 for adults and $4 for children ages 3 to 15. Admission to the Wild Animal Park will stay at $14.50 for adults and $7.50 for children ages 3 to 15.
