Moshe Cohen; Activist in Jewish Causes Was 79

Moshe Cohen, longtime president of the Los Angeles Yiddish Culture Club and active in several other Jewish organizations, has died at age 79.

He died Saturday at Century City Hospital.

Cohen, a native of Russia, came to the United States in 1923 and moved to Los Angeles in 1944, where he was involved in fund raising for Israel and for the Labor Zionist movement.

He was a member of the board of the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles and of the Bureau of Jewish Education.

Survivors include his wife, Esther, sons Norman, David and Ronnie and four grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Hillside Memorial Park.
