An bandit was shot and killed by a clerk at a gas station-convenience store early Tuesday during an attempted robbery, police said.
Lloyd Wesley Basnett, 36, entered the store at the Balboa Mobil Station in the 6000 block of Balboa Avenue about 3 a.m., armed with a .22-caliber revolver and wearing a mask, police said.
Store clerk Daniel Barigaber, 23, fired several shots at Basnett with a .38-caliber revolver, police said, and one of the shots struck Basnett in the chest.
Basnett, an unemployed electronics technician, was pronounced dead at the scene.
