Read Her Lips: Diane Warren, writer of Milli Vanilli’s lip-synced hit “Blame It on the Rain,” says she would have no problem accepting a Grammy Award for song of the year, the only category in which any Vanilli recordings remain eligible. “All I did was write a song, a hit song; I wasn’t in the studio seeing who was singing,” she said. But Warren, whose hit credits include DeBarge’s “Rhythm of the Night” and Chicago’s “Look Away,” acknowledged that Grammy voters may shun anything associated with the scandal. Her next project will be co-producing several of her songs for Cher’s next album. “I’ll make sure it’s really her singing,” Warren joked.
