Harness Star Beach Towel Retired

NEW YORK —
Beach Towel, one of the favorites for harness horse of the year, was retired Tuesday, owner Seth Rosenfeld of Uptown Stables announced.
Beach Towel, who won 18 of 23 starts this year, became the first harness horse to win $2 million in one season with $2,091,860 in earnings. In his career, Beach Towel won 29 of 36 races and earned $2,570,357.
The 1990 Breeders Crown champion will stand at stud on a lease arrangement at Walnridge Farm in Cream Ridge, N.J.
