Supervisors Delay Malibou Lake Decision

The County Board of Supervisors Thursday delayed a vote on a proposed Malibou Lake development and requested that the fire department investigate additional access routes to reach the isolated community south of Agoura Hills.
During a hearing, Supervisors Ed Edelman and Kenneth Hahn urged immediate rejection of Jack Slome’s proposal to build 15 houses and an equestrian center on a 4.6-acre parcel, saying that the community’s single-access road makes it difficult to evacuate the area in case of a fire.
Adding residences, they said, would exacerbate the problem.
But Supervisor Pete Schabarum said the project would improve fire safety for the entire community because the developer would be required to widen the road.
The board agreed to delay a final decision until February.
