A 25-year-old Oxnard man was arrested Friday on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale and possession of a stolen vehicle, police said.

Andrew Harper was being held in the Ventura County Jail on $10,000 bail, a jail spokesman said.

Oxnard Police Officer Jim O’Brien said he noticed about 12:20 a.m. that a Buick Regal driving north on Saviers Road matched the description of a car stolen in Port Hueneme. After checking the license plate and verifying it was stolen, he pulled it over, police said.

O’Brien arrested Harper and searched the car with the help of his police dog, Max.

They found 50 plastic bags of marijuana, 29 bags of cocaine and 18 bags of heroin, police said. The estimated street value of the drugs is $1,500, Oxnard Police Sgt. Joe Munoz said. O’Brien also found $1,000 in the car, police said.

The dog, Max, has been the subject of three legal battles arising from alleged biting incidents.
