Newport Harbor 64, Villa Park 63--Huy Nguyen’s free throw with nine seconds left broke a 63-63 tie. Nguyen was 13 for 18 from the free-throw line and led host Newport Harbor (4-1) with 25 points.
Buena Park 48, Santiago 38 (OT)--Richard Harvey had 14 points and 12 rebounds for visiting Buena Park (3-2), which outscored Santiago, 10-0, in overtime.
Magnolia 74, Bellflower 50--Aaron Williams had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead Magnolia. Leon Williams, Aaron’s brother, had a game-high 17 points.
Rancho Alamitos 87, La Habra 85--Six players scored in double figures for host Rancho Alamitos (1-3), led by Eric Moore with 22 and Ulysses Trammell with 18.
Valencia 66, Sonora 58--John Wilson scored 21 points and Adolfo Gomez added 15 to pace Valencia (5-1) at Sonora (1-3). Andy Lanham had 16 for Sonora.
Western 67, Schurr 35--Chris Jackson (17 points) was one of four Western players who scored in double figures. Host Western (5-0) led, 23-2, after one period.
Fullerton 72, Los Amigos 71--Chris Hartshorn’s 22 points paced visiting Fullerton (4-3).
In the Beverly Hills tournament:
El Toro 95, Rolling Hills 78--Rob Johnson had 30 points, 11 rebounds and five assists as El Toro (4-1) built a 25-6 first-quarter lead in its quarterfinal victory.
In the La Quinta tournament:
Huntington Beach 76, Katella 71 (OT)--Mustapha Abdi scored 22 points and Huntington Beach outscored Katella, 16-9, in overtime of a championship semifinal.
Cypress 81, La Quinta 49--Courtney Smalley scored 30 points to lead Cypress in a consolation semifinal.
In the El Dorado tournament:
Pomona 75, El Dorado 69--Pomona ran to a 17-2 lead in the opening period and held on for the victory against host El Dorado (3-2) in a first-round game.
