GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Battle of the Canyons Goes to Canyon Country in OT

Terra Bruessel made four free throws in overtime to lead Canyon Country Canyon High School to a 55-52 victory over Anaheim Canyon Saturday in the championship game of the El Dorado Tournament.

Bruessel had 16 points and tournament most valuable player Katrina Musingo added 13.

Rona Rathod scored 22 points and Kori Dalbey scored 13 for Anaheim Canyon.

In the third-place game:

El Dorado 42, Long Beach Jordan 32--Briana Yoshina scored 21 points for El Dorado.

In the Cypress tournament:

Huntington Beach 50, Hawthorne 11--Deana Itow scored 11 points to lead Huntington Beach (6-2) in the first round.

Millikan 55, Kennedy 50--Valerie Ruiz scored 30 points for Kennedy (5-2).

Marina 96, Los Alamitos 63--Senior guard Leslie Ono had 23 points and Amee Periolat had 17, both career highs, for Marina (6-0). Cindy Yamasaki had 23 points for Los Alamitos.

Mater Dei 59, Valencia 48--Joan Maurer had 17 points to lead Mater Dei (2-4). Zsuzsi Burkhalter added 13. Summer McLain had 25 points for Valencia.

Mission Viejo 39, Buena Park 32--Center Kelly McGlothlin had 14 points and 21 rebounds for Mission Viejo (5-3) in an opening-round game. Carrie Burt added 10 points for Mission Viejo.

In the Simi Valley tournament:

Fountain Valley 64, San Bernardino 37--Shanna Wilson had 19 points, 12 rebounds and two assists for Fountain Valley (3-3) in the first round. Heather Stanke had 16 points, three assists and nine rebounds.

In the Santa Ana Valley tournament:

University 41, La Quinta 15--Tara Wolff scored 16 points and had seven rebounds for University.
