From Times Staff and Wire reports

A 25-year-old Fountain Valley man was found guilty today for a series of attacks in Huntington Beach and the Fountain Valley area beginning five years ago, including eight separate rapes and eight other assault or burglary cases.

Robin Scott Dasenbrock, whose attorney conceded at the beginning of the trial that his client was guilty of most of the crimes, could face more than 150 years in prison when sentenced by Superior Court Judge Robert R. Fitzgerald on Jan. 11.

The jurors, who deliberated four days, found Dasenbrock not guilty on three charges of assault with intent to commit rape and one burglary count. But prosecutors conceded that those were the cases where the evidence was weakest and that the eyewitness identification may have been tainted when Dasenbrock’s picture appeared in a community newspaper before the victims could see him in a police line-up.

“None of those counts would have had an effect on the sentence,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Mike Koski said. “It shows the jurors were conscientious about what they were doing.”

Dasenbrock was found guilty on all sexual offenses related to the eight rape incidents, which included one woman who was raped twice more than a year apart in the same Fountain Valley apartment where she lived. All seven rape victims identified Dasenbrock as their assailant.

Jurors also found that Dasenbrock used a knife in 12 of the 34 charges for which he was convicted.

Dasenbrock had previously pleaded guilty to five additional assault and burglary counts, which means he will be sentenced on a total of 39 felony counts.
