Oregon Coach Rich Brooks says standout junior college quarterback Brett Salisbury has signed a letter-of-intent to play football for the Ducks.

Brooks made the announcement in Costa Mesa, where his team is preparing for the Dec. 29 Freedom Bowl. He also announced a second junior-college player, speedy wide receiver Derrick Deadwiler, had signed a letter to play for the Ducks.

“We normally don’t announce the signing of these players until February, but the publicity received by these players makes it obvious that we are very pleased to get them,” Brooks said Tuesday.

The 6-3, 200-pound Salisbury was a first team All-America selection at Palomar Junior College in San Marcos. He is the brother of former USC quarterback Sean Salisbury.
