THE SIDELINES : Rape by Browns Players Alleged
Police in this Cleveland suburb confirmed today that an investigation is ongoing concerning a woman’s allegation that she was raped by two Cleveland Browns players on Dec. 20.
No charges have been filed and the names of the players involved have not been made public.
“It’s an ongoing investigation. That’s all I can tell you. There are no names,” Parma Heights police Sgt. Ray Hill said today.
Browns spokesman Kevin Byrne confirmed that two players were under investigation on rape allegations.
“We’re looking into it ourselves,” Byrne said. “(Police) indicated it’s a bogus claim, but we’re taking it very seriously. Obviously we hope it is a bogus claim. All we have is a woman saying it happened.”
