HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Mori Leads Grant to Title, 65-56
Brunell Mori scored 19 points, including 17 in the second half, as Grant High defeated Kennedy, 65-56, Saturday night for the championship of the Birmingham tournament. Mori was named tournament most valuable player.
Grant made four three-point baskets in the first quarter and six in the first half to take a 30-22 halftime lead.

University 70, Taft 69--Ken Thames scored with 30 seconds left in overtime for University for the championship of the Eagle Rock tournament.
Casey Sheahan scored 25 points for Taft (9-4).
Campbell Hall 59, Bell-Jeff 58--Junior guard Austin McKellar, who scored 13 points, was named most valuable player as Campbell Hall (11-0) won the championship of the Bell-Jeff tournament.
Agoura 89, Ramona 78--Agoura won the championship of the Ramona tournament behind Sean Martin’s 30 points.
San Francisco Riordan 74, Santa Clara 62--Despite 22 points from Art Barron, Santa Clara (12-4) fell in the third-place game of the Orange tournament.
Faith Baptist 90, San Francisco Calvary Baptist 58--The Contenders scored the first 24 points in the final of the Santa Maria Valley Christian tournament.
Burroughs 69, San Diego Madison 58--Rick Mulloy had 31 points and 10 rebounds as the Indians (5-6) won the consolation final of the Mt. Carmel tournament.
St. Joseph 78, L.A. Baptist 70--Dan Shackelford scored 17 points for L.A. Baptist (3-7) in the final of the Carpinteria tournament.
Village Christian 71, Flintridge Prep 54--John Brown scored 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Village Christian in the third-place game of the La Salle tournament.
Reseda 55, Birmingham 53--Reseda outscored Birmingham, 17-5, in the fourth period to take third place in the Birmingham tournament.
Marquis Burns led Reseda with 18 points.
Westchester 69, Cleveland 53--Brandon Martin scored a game-high 25 points as the Cavaliers (10-4) dropped the third-place game of the Artesia tournament.
GIRLS
Thousand Oaks 71, Palmdale 58--Michelle Palmisano scored 23 points and Sasha Scardino added 21 to lead Thousand Oaks (11-1) to the championship of the Thousand Oaks tournament.
Hart 53, Banning 49--Anjanette Dionne scored 16 of her 30 points in the second quarter to lead Hart (13-2) in a fifth-place semifinal of the L. A. Invitational tournament.
North Hollywood 63, University 32--Karma Goodman scored 16 points for North Hollywood (11-3) in a fifth-place semifinal of the L. A. Invitational tournament.
Alemany 57, Navajo Academy 56--Rachel Corelli’s free throw gave Alemany a 57-54 lead with five seconds left in the fifth-place game of the Gahr tournament.
