Pacific Edges CS Long Beach, 67-65
Don Lyttle scored 18 points and Del Demps added 17, including the winning basket with four seconds to play, as Pacific beat Cal State Long Beach, 67-65, Wednesday night in the Big West opener for both teams.
Pacific improved to 5-6 overall; Long Beach dropped to 4-6.
The score was tied nine times, for the final time at 58-58 with five minutes remaining.
Pacific and Long Beach exchanged the lead seven times the rest of the way until Demps’ winning basket.
Glenn Griffin scored 14 for Pacific, 12 in the first half.
Lucious Harris led Long Beach with 20 points, and Kevin Cutler added 12.
