Fire on Set of TV Series Causes $70,000 Damage

Fire did about $70,000 damage Friday night to the set of “The Flash” television series at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Burbank fire officials said.

The fire started about 6:35 p.m., shortly after actors from the CBS series left on a lunch break, Battalion Chief M.W. Johnson said. Five units from the Burbank Fire Department extinguished the blaze by 7 p.m.

Johnson credited automatic sprinklers with preventing the fire from destroying more of the building’s contents, which are worth about $7 million. “As opposed to a major studio fire, it was contained by the automatic sprinklers,” Johnson said.

Fire officials said the blaze was caused by an electrical malfunction in a lighting device. There were no injuries.
