Steve Patterson, general manager of the Houston Rockets, wants the NBA to look a little closer at the play of center Bill Cartwright of the Chicago Bulls, whose elbow put Akeem Olajuwon out of action for a month. Patterson called Rod Thorn, the NBA’s vice president for operations, to voice his complaint.
“Rod said he reviewed the tape, and the elbow looked unintentional,” Patterson said. “But I can’t think of anybody else who has been fined for the use of his elbows more than Cartwright has.” Thorn said no fines will be levied for Thursday’s incident.
