Carl Champion scored a career-high 25 points in just 24 minutes as host Cal Lutheran raced to a 109-87 nonconference basketball win Monday night.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Rio Mesa 68, Oxnard 65--Manuk Kayaoglu scored 22 points for Rio Mesa (5-8, 2-1 in Channel League play) at Oxnard.
Alemany 80, Chaminade 73--Richard Dice scored a game-high 22 points and reserve Doug Tait added 13 as host Alemany (6-9, 1-2) won a Mission League game.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Bell-Jeff 53, El Segundo 34--Ingrid Ochoa scored 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and teammate Lori Leon scored 16 points with 10 rebounds to lead Bell-Jeff (11-5, 1-1) to a San Fernando Valley League victory at El Segundo.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Granada Hills 3, El Camino Real 2--Andreas Montealegre scored the tie-breaking goal with two minutes left as host Granada Hills (3-2-2, 2-2) claimed a come-from-behind Northwest Valley Conference win.
Alemany 2, Chaminade 1--Brian Loftus scored late in the second half to break a tie and allow host Alemany to improve to 1-0-1 in Mission League play.
Birmingham 1, Canoga Park 0--Tony Serpa scored the match’s only goal to give host Birmingham (5-1-2, 4-0) a Valley Pac-8 Conference win. Canoga Park fell to 1-3-4, 0-1-3.
San Fernando 4, Reseda 2--Fabian Galvan scored three goals and Oscar Arevalo scored one for host San Fernando (3-0-1 in Northwest Valley Conference play.)
Chatsworth 2, Hollywood 1--Chatsworth improved to 5-0-3, 2-0-2 with the Northwest Valley Conference victory at Hollywood.
North Hollywood 6, Poly 0--Yegiya Daragchyan scored two goals for host North Hollywood (6-1-1, 2-1-1) in a Valley Pac-8 match.
