The Sacramento Kings sunk to a franchise low Thursday night against the Charlotte Hornets and barely missed setting an NBA record for fewest points in a game.

The Kings shot only 29.7% and did not score a basket in the first nine minutes of the fourth quarter in a 101-59 loss at Charlotte, N.C.

The Milwaukee Hawks set the NBA futility record in a 62-57 loss to Boston on Feb. 27, 1955. The NBA does not recognize record lows set before adoption of the shot clock in the 1954-55 season.

The Kings’ previous franchise low of 69 points was set by the Cincinnati Royals against Detroit on Jan. 10, 1959.

“What went wrong?,” Sacramento Coach Dick Motta said. “Shooting, passing, dribbling. It was all ugly.”

The Kings made only three field goals in the fourth quarter. Their 22 field goals for the game was the fourth-lowest total in NBA history.

“I just wanted the floor to open up so we could just disappear,” Motta said.

The Kings also set a franchise low for the first half with 27 points. It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Kings and their 12th consecutive defeat on the road, where they are 1-16.

Antoine Carr scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds for the Kings.

Johnny Newman led the Hornets with 29 points.

Houston 156, Denver 133--The Rockets spotted the Nuggets a 15-point lead before roaring from behind and scoring 94 points in the second half at Denver.

The 94 points were three short of the second-half NBA record set by Atlanta in 1970.

San Antonio 117, Orlando 111--David Robinson matched his career high with 43 points to lead the Spurs over the Magic at San Antonio.

Robinson, who had 12 rebounds and 10 blocked shots, triggered a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter that gave the Spurs a 107-98 lead with 1:29 left.

Indiana 129, New York 122--The Pacers overcame a 42-point performance by Patrick Ewing to win their second road game this season.

Chuck Person had 24 points and Reggie Miller scored 12 of his 21 in the fourth quarter for the Pacers, who are 2-16 on the road.

Golden State 113, Seattle 103--Mitch Richmond scored 32 points and Tim Hardaway keyed an 18-3 fourth-quarter run with nine points as the Warriors won at the Seattle Coliseum for the first time since Nov. 9, 1988.
