COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Marauders Set Record for Points

Antelope Valley College beat Foothill Conference foe San Bernardino, 148-93, Friday night in a school-record-setting performance.

The Marauders’ 148 points eclipsed the school single-game record of 144, and their 80 second-half points topped the single-half record of 78.

All five starters and seven players scored in double figures for visiting Antelope Valley (15-4, 5-1 in conference play). J.R. Rider scored 37 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

In another men’s basketball game:

Master’s 126, Bethany 71--Center Joe Jon Bryant and forward Bruce Watson each had 19 points to lead the visiting Mustangs.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Occidental 110, Whittier 42--Jacqui Dent scored 34 points to lead Occidental.

Valley 92, Oxnard 45--Valley took a 16-0 lead and was never challenged at Oxnard. Tisa Rush led Valley (18-3) with 22 points.

San Bernardino Valley 72, Antelope Valley 71--Antelope Valley (5-12, 2-2), which trailed by 14 points with six minutes left, missed three game-winning shots in the final seconds.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING

Cal State Northridge 180, Pepperdine 79--The Matadors won all but one of 14 events en route to an easy win over host Pepperdine in a nonconference meet.

In winning their fourth dual meet of the season, the Matadors finished 1-2 in 12 of the events.

Junior transfer Cecilia Henricksen paced CSUN with three first-place finishes, and Marti Carlson and Kathy Ruiz each had two wins.
