Tennis Players From Calabasas Choose Colleges

Calabasas High tennis players Natasha Pospich and Alison Paris have committed to four-year colleges, with Pospich accepting a scholarship to Pepperdine and Paris deciding to play at Dartmouth, an Ivy League school that offers no athletic scholarships.

Pospich played at No. 1 singles and Paris at No. 3 for Calabasas, last season’s Southern Section 3-A Division runner-up. Calabasas (17-4) had been ranked No. 1 all season but lost to Westlake in the championship match.

Pospich chose Pepperdine, which has reached the NCAA tournament quarterfinals the past two seasons, over USC and Pacific. A high school All-American, she was the team MVP for four seasons.

“The location is key,” she said. “I am definitely a California girl.”

Paris, one of the top students in her class, chose Dartmouth over Brown, Duke and Pennsylvania. Dartmouth is ranked fourth on the East Coast, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Assn.

“I was interested in an Ivy League school and when I went to Dartmouth, I fell in love with the campus,” Paris said. “Dartmouth has one of the better teams in the Ivy League, and they compete against Division I teams from around the country.”
