HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP : Crescenta Valley Girls Rout Blair, 16-0

Danae Fielder and Nancy Allen each scored four goals to lead the Crescenta Valley High girls’ soccer team to a 16-0 nonleague victory over Blair on Tuesday in a meeting between schools with first-year programs.

Jodi Larson added two goals for the visiting Falcons, who improved to 17-0 with one regular-season match remaining. Crescenta Valley did not allow a shot on goal and Blair crossed midfield only twice.

Crescenta Valley, a free-lance team that is not guaranteed a berth in the playoffs, built an 8-0 first-half lead and scored eight goals within the first 10 minutes of the second half.

To be eligible for a playoff berth--teams are selected on the basis of strength of schedule and record--a free-lance team must finish at least .500 in 16 matches or more.

“We hate to kill people,” Crescenta Valley Coach Judd Bogust said. “The CIF will be looking at the scores. We have to do what we can to get into the playoffs and thus far the CIF hasn’t been optimistic.” BOYS

Calabasas 4, Santa Clara 1--Steve Thomas scored twice and had an assist for visiting Calabasas (6-3-1 in league matches) in a Frontier League match. Dan Rosenbloom and Eugene Giaquinto also scored for Calabasas.

Royal 5, Newbury Park 0--Marco Tedesco scored two goals for host Royal (17-3-2, 9-2) in the Marmonte League victory.

Dan Morris, Luke Petersen, Ryan Van Buskirk scored to give Royal a 3-0 first-half lead. Royal goalkeeper Steve Hambly had five saves.

Newbury Park is 4-4-3 in league matches.

Agoura 5, Channel Islands 1--Matt Horton scored two goals and Jason Flashberg had two assists to help host Agoura (8-11-3, 4-7) snap a three-match losing streak in the Marmonte League match.
