THOUSAND OAKS : Commission to Reconsider Tract

Share

The Planning Commission is to reconsider tonight a proposal to build 69 houses on 41 acres near Sunset Hills Boulevard and Avenida Amaranto in northern Thousand Oaks.

The commission rejected the project in May after questioning the stability of the site on which General Procurement Co. wants to build.

Several homeowners north of the project were also worried that it might cause landslides or result in falling debris, Planner Richard Burgess said. Since then, the developer has worked with city planners and a consultant to change the tract design, he said.

The biggest change is the reduction of the height of slopes along the northern side of lots, he said. The slopes were originally designed to be from 60 to 90 feet high but have been reduced to a maximum height of 35 feet, he said.

Consultant Envicom Corp. said in a report that the lots now “should not threaten the structural integrity” of nearby houses.
