SIMI VALLEY : Big Rigs’ Collision Injures 1 Driver
An accident between two big-rig trucks on the Simi Valley Freeway on Wednesday left one of the drivers injured and caused the other driver’s truck to careen through a bridge guardrail and crash onto a Simi Valley street below, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The accident happened when Arthur A. Olmos, 26, of Canoga Park tried to change lanes while traveling east on the freeway near Tapo Canyon Road, a CHP spokesman said.
The left side of his truck struck the trailer of a truck being driven by Timothy James Doran, 31, of San Dimas, causing it to cross into the next lane and then over the side of the bridge that crosses Tapo Canyon Road, officials said.
Doran’s truck landed on a dirt embankment on Tapo Canyon Road. He escaped injury, but Olmos was taken to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, where he was treated for scrapes and bruises.
