Dave Maggard, athletic director at the University of California since 1972, is leaving to take the same job with the University of Miami in Florida. Maggard, who was a shotputter on the 1968 U.S. Olympic track and field team, took over at Cal after serving two years as track coach at his alma mater. He was dean of athletic directors in the Pacific 10 Conference.
