Rio Hondo Plans 30th-Anniversary Series of Events

Rio Hondo Community College has planned several events over the next four months to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
A luncheon and reception is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Campus Inn, and will include remarks by college President Alex Sanchez and Isabelle Gonthier, president of the college Board of Trustees.
A fashion show, featuring the styles of the ‘60s, is planned at the same time on the lower quad of the campus. A slide show, featuring photographs of the campus in its early stages of construction, and videos of past Faculty Assn. Board and faculty retreats will be shown from 1:15 to 3 p.m. in the trustees’ room in the Administration Building.
Thursday’s events are open to all Rio Hondo students, staff and members of the community.
Several other events have been planned for other dates. On March 10, members of the Flyers Cycling Assn. will compete in a 30-lap race. A sports-card show, which will raise funds for the Rio Hondo athletic department, will be held April 6 and 7. The Middle Eastern Culture and Dance Assn. will sponsor the Cairo Festival June 1 and 2.
