A 16-year-old boy was shot to death and two men were wounded in East Los Angeles during an attack that apparently was gang-related.

The shooting occurred after words were exchanged between the occupants of a car and a group of people standing in the 900 block of South Fetterly Avenue about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, said Sheriff’s Deputy Roger Hom. An unknown number of shots were fired by somebody in the car, which contained four people, Hom said.

The car, which was southbound on Fetterly, turned west on Verona Street and fled the scene, the deputy said. The teen-ager died at the scene. A 23-year-old man was in critical condition at County-USC Medical Center and a 25-year-old man was in stable condition at Downey Community Hospital, Hom said.
