SANTA ANA — Police were attempting Saturday to identify a man who was struck and killed by a motorist when he fell off his bicycle on a busy thoroughfare.
Santa Ana Police Sgt. Dennis Rios said that the man was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana from internal injuries he received in the 11:30 p.m. accident Friday.
The man, who carried no identification, was riding his bike along the 1300 block of East Edinger Avenue when he fell for some reason, Rios said.
As he got up and grabbed his bike to drag it onto the sidewalk, a motorist failed to see him and struck him head-on, Rios said. He died 3 1/2 hours later.
The driver was not cited, Rios said, but added that the investigation was continuing.
