Carlsbad
Police were searching Wednesday for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a Vista man walking across a street in Carlsbad, authorities said.
Faustino Camacho-Bazan, 33, died of multiple injuries at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, said John Armendariz, an investigator with the medical examiner’s office.
Bazan was attempting to cross in the 5100 block of El Camino Real when he was struck by a car in the northbound lanes, Carlsbad police spokesman Lt. Greg Fried said. The blow propelled him into the southbound lanes, where a second car hit and killed him.
The driver of the first car, Carlsbad resident Sarah Jean MacGregor, stopped, but the second car fled, Fried said.
Bazan was a fieldworker, and leaves behind a wife and child in Mexico, Armendariz said.
