Baby Boy Was Born Alive, Then Killed
A newborn boy was killed before his body was left in a dumpster near a mansion under construction in the gated community of Hidden Hills earlier this month, authorities said Friday.
Sheriff’s detectives trying to find the person responsible for the baby’s death asked for help in identifying pregnant women who lived, visited or worked in the western San Fernando Valley city near Calabasas on or before Feb. 21.
Detectives have narrowed their search because entry to the community of sprawling houses is limited only to residents, relatives, visitors and employees.
A sanitation worker found the body of the baby, who was possibly of Latino descent, the morning of Feb. 21 in a dumpster next to the site of a house under construction. The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached.
Sheriff’s homicide Sgt. David Horton said the baby had been born alive and then killed. He declined to reveal the cause of death.
