Bowe Knocks Out Biggs in Eighth Round
Heavyweight Riddick Bowe knocked down a bloodied Tyrell Biggs twice with a series of right uppercuts and overhands and stopped him in the eighth round of a fight in Atlantic City, N.J., Saturday.
Referee Frank Capuccino stopped the bout at 2:17 of the eighth round after Biggs hit the canvas for the second time under a flurry of punches.
Bowe, 23, the International Boxing Federation’s sixth-ranked heavyweight who won a silver medal in the super-heavyweight division of the 1988 Olympics, is 22-0 with 20 knockouts. Biggs, 30, a super-heavyweight gold medalist in the 1984 Olympics, is 19-4.
