Music, Poetry, Art and Tack Shows

The Wild West is celebrated with three separate events this weekend in North County. An art show, a cowboy poetry reading and music will be featured. * A Western Art and Tack Show will be held from noon-9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday in Bing Crosby Hall at Del Mar Fairgrounds. Custom saddle makers, art studios, bronze sculptures, hats, boots, and the latest in western fashions will be featured. Western singer Joel Reese and the band Seldom Clean will provide entertainment throughout the event.

* A Cowboy Music and Poetry Festival begins with an art show at 6 p.m. Saturday at The Barn, 149 E. San Marcos Blvd., San Marcos. Performances by poet and humorist Frank (Two Jump) Morris, cowboy storyteller and balladeer Ken Graydon and musician Joel Reese begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 in advance, $7.50 at the door. * Roy Clark, star of the television show “Hee Haw,” will perform three shows this weekend at Leo’s Little Bit O’Country, 680 W. San Marcos Blvd., San Marcos. Clark will take to the stage at 4:30 p.m. Saturday and at 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Advance tickets are $30 by calling Leo’s, 744-4120. Preferred seating is $45. Char Carroll and the Durango Band will perform before and after each concert, with dancing until 1 a.m. both nights.
