Officials of the Philadelphia Phillies and major league baseball spoke with Lenny Dykstra last summer about his gambling, team President Bill Giles said.
“As far as we know, he’s been completely cleared by the commissioner’s office,” Giles said.
Dykstra returned to the Phillies’ spring training camp in Clearwater, Fla., a day after testifying in Oxford, Miss., at the trial of a man charged with operating an illegal poker game. Dykstra admitted writing checks to cover $78,000 in losses more than a year ago.
