St. Mary’s Hires Stanford Assistant
Stanford assistant Ernie Kent has been named coach of St. Mary’s basketball team, athletic director Rick Mazzuto announced Thursday.
Kent was chosen over 66 other candidates, including interim coach Dave Fehte, who took over at midseason when Paul Landreaux vacated the post. Landreaux was asked to leave after his announcement that he wouldn’t be returning next season.
Kent, 36, said he will ask Fehte to remain as an assistant.
Before his two seasons at Stanford, Kent was also an assistant at Colorado State and at Oregon.
