FULLERTON : Plan Approved for Golf Driving Range

Share

The City Council last week approved a lease agreement that would set aside 15 acres in the Brea Dam recreational area for the development of a driving range and an 18-hole putting course.

The land will be leased to Community Golf Development Inc., which submitted the proposal in February of last year.

The property is part of a 299-acre parcel owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Currently, Fullerton Municipal Golf Course, the Leonard Andrews Municipal Tennis Center, the North Orange County YMCA, the Child Guidance Center and city campgrounds occupy the land.

Councilman A. B. (Buck) Catlin said the facility will be a “real asset” to the community, bringing in more than $200,000 of yearly revenues for the city.

The lease agreement for the $3 million project is for 40 years.

Construction is expected to begin this summer.
