Arson was the cause of the spectacular fire that swept through a boat-filled storage shed at a Mission Bay campground earlier this month, San Diego Fire Department officials said.

Metro Arson Strike Team investigator John Buono said Monday that investigators are looking for anyone with information about a tan, late 1960s model, converted camper-van that was seen in the area moments before the blaze broke out. The occupants of the van were being sought for questioning. The March 5 fire at Campland on the Bay caused $3 million in damage.

The fire set off alarms in the warehouse shortly before 6 p.m. and destroyed 61 boats and a motor home, Fire Department Capt. Al Macdonald said.
