Quintana, claimed two months ago for $50,000, circled horses on the far turn and then outraced Corporate Report to win the $100,000 Rebel Stakes on Saturday at Oaklawn Park.
Trainer David Cross claimed the 3-year-old son of Affirmed from trainer Wayne Lukas, who flew from California to Oaklawn to saddle Corprorate Report and Battle Creek in the Rebel.
Quintana, ridden by David Guillory, finished a head in front of Corporate Report after completing the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42 3/5. Corporate Report, trying stakes competition after winning the first two starts of his career, was eight lengths in front of Far Out Wadleigh.
Quintana, who failed to win against allowance company at Santa Anita, returned $19.60, $5.00 and $3.60. Corporate Report paid $2.40 and $2.20. Far Out Wadleigh returned $3.00.
