A retired San Diego State University professor was shot to death Tuesday during a domestic dispute with his wife, police said.
Hubert Horst Herrman, 61, was killed after a bullet struck his face about 4 a.m. during an argument with his wife, Lisa Herrman, 60, San Diego police homicide Lt. Dan Berglund said.
Police found Herrman’s body lying against the bathroom toilet in the couple’s home in the 2900 block of Morningside Street in Paradise Hills.
“Apparently they had a history of domestic violence,” Berglund said, adding that neighbors reported frequently hearing the couple argue in German. He said it was not known what the argument was about.
Lisa Herrman is being held without bail in the Las Colinas Jail in Santee on suspicion of murder. She is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, a jail spokeswoman said.
Herrman’s autopsy is scheduled today, a spokesman for coroner said.
