COUNTYWIDE : 2 Hearings Planned on Transit Services

Share

Two public hearings are planned by the Ventura County Transportation Commission on transit services available in the county.

The first hearing will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Thousand Oaks City Council chambers. The second hearing is scheduled for April 15 in the Camarillo City Council chambers.

The commission would like to know if there are any unmet transportation needs in the county, if those needs can be met by expanding existing systems and if new systems should be established, commission spokeswoman Mary Travis said.

“We’re talking about a whole range of needs, from a senior citizen to a mentally or physically disabled person who needs transportation to a worker who needs to get around from city to city,” she said.

The Ventura County Transportation Commission, a seven-member panel that includes city council members, county supervisors and residents, determines which county transportation projects and improvements should be financed.

Funds for the projects are provided through the California Transportation Development Act.
