Police are seeking the public’s help in their search for two men in connection with the slaying of a retired hardware importer, who was shot to death in his back yard.

Donald Mulleneaux was killed by a single gunshot wound Thursday morning as he stood in the back yard of his home in the 7700 block of Bestel Avenue, Westminster Police Officer Robin Kapp said.

There were no witnesses to and homicide detectives have little to go on other than reports that two Latino men in a light-blue Cadillac were seen on the street shortly before the murder.

“That’s the only lead we have to go on,” Kapp said.

Kapp said investigators still have not been able to determine a motive for the 9:30 a.m. slaying. There were no obvious signs of an attempted burglary and no one living in the quiet neighborhood reported hearing any arguments before the shooting.
