A North Hollywood man who stopped at a Sun Valley market to buy cigarettes was shot and killed early Sunday when he walked to a nearby parking lot to watch a fight and got into an argument with another onlooker, Los Angeles police said.
Salvador Gonzalez Hueso, 22, had stopped at the market in the 8400 block of Sunland Boulevard at 1:50 a.m. He noticed some men fighting and joined eight to 10 others who were watching, Police Detective Larry Queen said. Then Hueso got into an argument with another onlooker, who shot Hueso four or five times in the chest with a handgun, Queen said.
Hueso was taken by friends to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, where he was pronounced dead at 2:13 a.m. Queen said it appeared that Hueso walked over to the fight out of curiosity.
“What this fight had to do with the homicide we don’t know,” Detective Marshall White said.
Police had no one in custody and had not yet identified witnesses to the shooting, White said.
