BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Felix Aggravates Injury, May Need Rest
- Share via
Center fielder Junior Felix might be sidelined several days after aggravating a strained right calf muscle running out a fielder’s choice grounder in the third inning Sunday.
Felix initially suffered the injury in the first game of the Angels’ 10-game trip, May 10 in Cleveland, and missed three games.
Manager Doug Rader said Felix’s injury “is getting to the point where I think he may need three, four, maybe five days off.”
Wally Joyner’s first-inning bunt single was his only hit in five at-bats. His hitting streak is a major league-leading 15 games and he’s hitting .383, still tops in the majors. Joyner is 28 for 60 (.467) during the streak. On the road, he’s 32 for 72 (.444).
Shortstop Dick Schofield had Sunday off to guard against further tightness in his left groin. Second baseman Luis Sojo also did not start; he had tightness in his hamstring but was available.
