Santa Monica : 10 Water Contest Winners
Santa Monica Mayor Judy Abdo presented awards this week to 10 grade-school children for their entries in the annual “Water Is Life” art competition.
The program was designed to teach children that water conservation is a permanent aspect of life in dry Southern California. The winners used watercolors, crayon and construction paper to create works on such themes as the wastefulness of lawn watering, car washing and letting leaky faucets go unattended.
The winners received blue ribbons and T-shirts at a ceremony Tuesday on Santa Monica Pier.
