County OKs Addition of 160 Miles of Trails

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Thursday approved the addition of 160 miles of proposed riding and hiking trails to the Antelope Valley Area Trail Plan.

The proposed trails would link the valley’s local trails to the Angeles National Forest trails, the Pacific Crest Trail and the Santa Clarita Valley’s trail system, planner Lee Stark said.

Stark said the trails would be paid for by landowners as the areas in which the trails are situated are subdivided for development.

“We are putting everyone on notice that we want these trails to go through someday,” he said.

Stark said the land is in flat areas and foothills, primarily in the Acton area.
