Everything’s going right for the Texas Rangers.

Ruben Sierra hit a three-run double in the 11th and Juan Gonzalez hit a two-run double later in the inning as the Rangers extended their club-record winning streak to 10 with a 10-6 victory Thursday over the Minnesota Twins at Minneapolis.

“We’ve been getting the good team effort,” said Texas Manager Bobby Valentine, whose team is now alone atop the American League West standings, a half-game ahead of Seattle and Oakland. “We’re getting the clutch hitting and the bullpen and defense have been outstanding.”

Sierra was four for six with five RBIs. The Rangers’ 10-game winning streak is the longest in the majors since Boston won 10 straight last Aug. 24 to Sept. 2.

Kirby Puckett went six for seven for the Twins, getting five singles and a triple. The major league record for hits in an extra-inning game is nine by John Burnett of Cleveland in an 18-inning game in 1932.

But Minnesota stranded 21 runners, three short of the American League record for an extra-inning game.

Jose Guzman started for Texas, his first major league appearance since Sept. 21, 1988. Guzman missed all of the 1989 season and most of 1990 with shoulder problems before making 10 minor league appearances last year. Guzman walked nine in 3 2/3 innings, one short of the club record, and allowed two runs and four hits.

Geno Petralli led off the 11th with a double, Steve Bedrosian (2-2) walked the bases loaded, Sierra’s three-run double broke a 5-5 tie and Gonzalez’s two-run double made it 10-5.

Chicago 11, Oakland 1--Frank Thomas had a career-high five RBIs and Greg Hibbard pitched a five-hitter at Oakland as the White Sox knocked the Athletics out of first place.

Hibbard (3-2) struck out three and walked one in his second complete game. He is 2-0 lifetime against Oakland with a 1.76 ERA.

The White Sox had 17 hits against four A’s pitchers, including six straight to lead off the seventh inning.

Detroit 5, Boston 3--Pete Incaviglia, who had struck out in all 11 previous career at-bats against Roger Clemens, hit a go-ahead double in the seventh inning at Detroit.

Clemens (6-2) allowed four runs and five hits in seven-plus innings, struck out 10 and walked two. He won his first six decisions, then was pounded for nine runs and 13 hits in five innings against Texas on Saturday night.

Milwaukee 7, Cleveland 3--B.J. Surhoff hit a two-run single in a four-run first inning at Milwaukee and the Brewers ended a three-game losing streak.
