Blaze in Transformer Blacks Out UCLA Campus
A small fire in a transformer triggered a blackout on the UCLA campus in Westwood on Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Fire Department reported.
One engine company was dispatched to handle the blaze, which was reported at 11:53 a.m., said city Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo.
UCLA spokeswoman Natalie Hall said that shortly after noon “the lights went out here in our building about 10 or 15 minutes ago and they haven’t come back on.”
