Rio Hondo School to Dedicate Playground
The Rio Hondo Elementary School PTA will dedicate a new playground at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the school, 11425 Wildflower Road, Arcadia.
The ceremony is the result of five years of work by the PTA in cooperation with the El Monte City School District, which oversees Rio Hondo Elementary.
The PTA worked with the school and district to develop the plans and then organized fund-raisers that financed a retaining wall, sand and play equipment worth more than $25,000.
The playground will be dedicated to Trina Benson, a student who died last summer of a genetic heart defect.
