GUESS AGAIN: The latest parades to welcome home the gulf troops will be held this weekend in San Clemente (B2) and Washington (A4), but counting the crowds will be, well, anybody’s guess. . . . At last month’s Orange County Victory Parade, Irvine Police Sgt. Tom Hume consulted with other officers, then made the official “guesstimate”: 200,000 people had lined the streets. That figure didn’t seem right to some observers, and now Hume, after looking at aerial photographs, has reduced the count by half. You figure the “parade is X miles long and X many people deep” at spots along the way, he said, but it’s still a crapshoot. . . . “To be honest with you, I was a little liberal because of the spirit of things.”
