Pedestrian Hit, Killed on I-5 Near Border
An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday along Interstate 5 near the U.S.-Mexico border, authorities reported.
The victim was hit in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Camino de la Plaza about 8:30 p.m. Additional details on the accident were not immediatedly available.
The accident occurred in an area where scores of undocumented immigrant have been killed in recent years as they attempted to negotiate the busy freeway on foot.
The latest victim is at least the third pedestrian killed along the same stretch of freeway this year.
