SANTA ANA : Deadbolts Offered to Senior Citizens
The Police Department is offering free deadbolt locks and installation to low-income seniors throughout the city.
So far, more than 400 free locks have been distributed to residents age 62 or older with annual incomes of less than $16,154, said Maureen Haacker, a police spokeswoman.
“Most have told us that they feel so much safer,” Haacker said.
The locks were purchased with money received through a federal community block grant. Haacker said the department should have enough locks for all senior citizens who meet the requirements.
