West Covina : Fees for Sewer to Increase
Residents will see an 87% increase for sewer maintenance on their December, 1991, county tax assessment bills.
Each household will be charged a flat fee of $18 instead of the current $9.63. Businesses will be assessed a flat fee based on square footage.
The increase was less than the $21.47 annual fee recommended by Harry Thomas, city engineer and public works manager. To cut the proposed fee, the City Council had to scrap proposals for new sewers and a reserve account.
The council approved the increase, effective July 1, on a 4-1 vote Monday. Councilman William Tarozzi voted no, saying the service should be paid for out of the general fund.
